Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Empty the Waste Drawer
First, ensure that your Litter-Robot is unplugged. Then, press the “empty” button to remove the waste drawer. Pull the drawer out, remove the liner, tie it up, and throw it out. Cleaning the waste drawer is essential every time the unit notifies you. Depending on how many cats you have, you may need to do this more frequently.
Step 2: Disassemble the Litter-Robot
Next, separate the globe from the base. Make sure to detach the waste drawer and globe, as the base and bonnet contain delicate electronics and should not be submerged in water.
Step 3: Wash the Globe, Waste Drawer, and Carbon Filter
Wash the globe, waste drawer, and carbon filter with gentle soap and water. Use a scrub brush for tricky spots and vacuum any stuck litter. Replace the carbon filter every few months to keep odors out effectively.
Step 4: Clean the Rubber Mat
Don’t forget to clean the rubber step mat! Over time, dirt and debris may build up, so make sure it’s cleaned thoroughly along with the rest of the unit.
Step 5: Wipe Down the Base and Bonnet
Since the base contains the Litter-Robot’s electronics, wipe it with a clean cloth and mild soap rather than submerging it. This will ensure your automatic litter box stays in top shape.
Step 6: Reassemble the Litter-Robot
Once everything has air-dried, reassemble the Litter-Robot. Attach a new waste drawer liner, and place the globe and bonnet back on the base.
Step 7: Add Fresh Clumping Litter
